Women & Men as Allies

Women and Men as Allies launched at Abigail Disney's loft in 2015, followed by the 2015 Women & Men as Allies: At Work and At Home, and most recently the 2017 Women and Men as Allies: The Allies Agenda.

This series is co-hosted by The Center for the Study of Men and Masculinities and Feminist.com ( founders bios below) who came together to organize and produce a series of salons on the theme “Women and Men as Allies.” These panels are engaging and inspiring for both the thought-leader panelists and audience alike.

The Women and Men as Allies project seeks to create and sustain a community of people in New York who are committed to gender equality and women’s empowerment, and to engaging men towards that end.

“Many of us are here because we are constantly seeking opportunities to be together. We need these conversation. We need to be together to have these kinds of conversations.”
— Michael Kimmel, SUNY Distinguished Professor of Sociology and Gender Studies;
Executive Director, Center for the Study of Men and Masculinities
“I wanted to start by asking the panel ‘What is, sort of, the one thing or one issue that sort of most concerns you that is happening right now?’ and you can balance that by also saying ‘What strategies do you see in terms of addressing those issues?’ or just ‘What do you see to counterbalance that all, that does give us hope?’”
